Pittsburgh, PA - In this day and age, we pretty well expect that every time the phone rings, you may as well ignore it. Because it is always an automated call. We remember the good old days when "Becky from cardholder services" was a real person. Nowadays it's all robocalls.
Except for this past Tuesday when a local man answered his phone, even though he did not recognize the number on the caller ID. There was an actual person on the line. A real live human!
"I couldn't believe it!", he says. "It was like going back in time 10 years."
In 2018, it was estimated that some 26.3 billion robocalls were made to cell phones last year. Or an average of 10 a day. Per person.
It turns out the phone call was from a 74 year old woman wondering if her prescription was ready. But at least it wasn't a robocall.
