New House Speaker is a Great Distraction

WASHINGTON DC - This is all so ridiculous.  That opening statement could be used for every news story written since at least 2016, and probably earlier.  It got me thinking a bit about the state of news media in this country.  It particular it got me thinking about how they latch on to the dumbest things, and make it into the biggest news story of the year.  They do this every day.  And the crazy thing is, they never really tell us what the actual news is.  They only tell us what will generate revenue for them.

I've chosen one situation in particular to illustrate how this is so incredibly frustrating.  Mostly because it's SO obvious, and we all still eat it up.  Kevin McCarthy, pictured here, was the Speaker of the House for a few months.  Until he did something to piss off the dumber parts of the Republican party, and they voted to fire him.  They did this with no plan of action.  They did this with no idea who the replacement would be.  Then they spent some 3 weeks flailing about and tossing around the idea of making Gym Jordan the speaker.  A person who no one wanted.

At the time, the House had just averted a government shutdown.  It was that action that caused the idiot-caucus to oust him.  Imagine that...  The Speaker of the House averted a government shutdown by working with the Democrats in the House.  And they fired him for it.

It is at this point that I would like to interject that this was all obviously for show.  It clogged up the news cycles for weeks.  That was ALL we saw.  "Who will be the new speaker?"  "The government can't get any work done!"

While this was going on, I was writing on my favorite social media platforms about how it was SO obviously all for show, and soon they would find a new speaker.  They would do it quietly.  They would decide behind closed doors.  And one day they would have a vote and magically solve that problem.  What was going on was theater and nothing more.  Nothing was actually happening except the show they were putting on.

Well, guess what happened...  They went behind closed doors, made a deal, and voted in a new Speaker, and none us knew anything about any of it until right after the vote.  Next thing you know, Mike Johnson is the new speaker.

And look at how that worked out.  Split RIGHT down party lines.  The entire vote to bring this guy in was Republicans.  Not a single Democrat voted for him.  Not one.  They all voted for Hakeem Jeffries.  Who by all accounts is way better suited and actually qualified for the job.  But that doesn't matter to the GOP.  All that matters is that the speaker be a Republican.  Even if that person is an outrageous homophobic bigot.  Even if that person is a far-right whackadoodle, who no one in the entire country ever heard of until THAT day.

Did I mention this is all for show?

Anyway...  Why did I not post a picture of Mr Johnson?  Because he is a smarmy, disgusting individual.  He is one of those people that makes your skin crawl.  So I won't subject my readers to that.  You got a picture of McCarthy.  Be happy I spared you what so many other sites have not.

Aaaanyway...  What has happened since this dude has been in seat?  Nothing.  Absolutely nothing has happened.  But he has been in the news multiple times a day ever since.  We know all about his religion.  We know that he and his wife have a contract with his God saying that they can never get divorced.  We know that he shares his porn history and activity with his son so they can compare notes and see who is a bigger sinner.  We know he HATES gays, and thinks that their having a good time is the reason for all the terrible things in this world.  We know that much like Matt Gaetz, he has an adopted 14 year old boy living with him.  Because that's not strange at all.  We know that his wife is one of those people that runs conversion therapy programs to rescue gays from that evil lifestyle.

Why in the world does this dude feel it necessary to tell us SO much about his personal life, especially as it pertains to sex and homosexuality?  I have no idea.  But BOY has it clogged up the news cycles!

Did I mention this is all for show?

They could have picked anyone for that job.  But they picked a person who was SURE to keep the minds and eyes of the general public occupied.  Evidently no one in their ranks can do this because they are such a good person, so they had to find the most abhorrent scumsucker in their ranks, and prop him up.  Because they know that so much time will be spent poking fun at him that no one will notice all the OTHER news going on in the world.  Everyone will be gloriously distracted by THIS current show.  And it is working like a charm.

What news have we missed as a result?  I don't really know.  We bombed Iran.  Israel and Hamas are at war and killing the shit out of civilians on both sides.  The once averted government shutdown is only another week away.  The former President is on trial for fraud in New York and losing very badly. 
But, see, you shouldn't be looking at me or this site for actual news.  It says right there at the top that this is all fake.  It's more correct to say that this site has morphed into an opinion and editorial spot more than anything.  The point is, I don't deliver news.  I talk about the news.

In conclusion
It has never been more obvious than it is today that the Republicans have absolutely no ideas and NO intention of actually doing their jobs.  All they are interested in is keeping their names in the news, posting on social media, and badmouthing the people that ARE actually working.

How many times have you heard of them trying to find ways to impeach Biden even though they have no evidence to do so.  They have no reason to do so either.  Other than thinking that since the Democrats impeached Drumpf, it's only fair.  And speaking of that guy...  None of them have anything at all to say about his current fraud case in NY, or the other 4 cases amounting to 91 felony indictments.  They want to impeach Biden for things that his son did, and while Biden wasn't even in office.  

Because, and I can't stress this enough...  This is all for show.
